Week 27 Activities and Homework

Week 27 Activities and Homework (March 1-5, 2010)

Language Arts:

M: Revise WWII research paper. HW: make revisions.

T: Continue revising WWII research paper. Work on reading log and book report. HW: make revisions.

W: (early release) Types of poetry. Work on poetry sampler. HW: work on poetry sampler.

TH: Work on poetry sampler. HW: continue working on poetry sampler.

F: DUE: final draft of WWII research paper- hard copy, NO emails! Vocabulary. Poetry sampler. HW: finish poetry sampler if necessary (due on Monday).

Honors:
-same as above. Poetry selections, vocabulary, activities, and discussion topics will vary from regular language arts.

Goals:
The student will:
• Evaluate themes and literary techniques in a work of literature
• Analyze structural elements of poetry
• Identify and apply various types of figurative language
• Understand and apply techniques for skimming and reading to find main idea facts
• Improve grammar skills with exercises and drills
• Improve vocabulary through the study of Greek and Latin roots.
