Week 26 Activities and Homework (February 22-26, 2010)

Language Arts:

M: Figurative language. Make flip booklet. HW: finish and decorate flip booklet.

T: DUE: flip booklet. CHECK on DWPs. Types of poetry. HW: find song lyrics that contain figurative language, and print or write out to bring to class.

W: DUE: song lyrics. Vocab. Types of poetry. Analyze song lyrics. HW: make vocab boxes for list #9.

TH: CHECK on vocab section. Types of poetry. HW: TBA.

F: Types of poetry. Poetry poker. HW: none.

Honors: same as above. Poetry selections and terminology will vary from regular LA.

Goals:
The student will:
• Evaluate themes and literary techniques in a work of literature
• Analyze structural elements of poetry
• Identify and apply various types of figurative language
• Understand and apply techniques for skimming and reading to find main idea facts
• Improve grammar skills with exercises and drills
• Improve vocabulary through the study of Greek and Latin roots.
